The Most Common Phrase in My World Is...
In the world of event organization, we encounter many questions. Often, we also face stereotypes and preconceived opinions. The most common responses we encounter in conversations are:
"We do all this ourselves. We don't need that. Why would we even hold an event? What is your added value? You need that much time? What are you doing? I can do this in half an hour..." or "We only organize live events. In fact, we made our own platform for our needs. Why would we pay so much money to someone when we have Zoom?"
Such statements reflect views through different periods and perspectives of individuals. My name is Jaka Gornik, and I have been living for events for over 20 years. Live, online, hybrid, sports, business, entertainment... I experience events in my own way, but I always try to add my signature to them. With it, I help build the recognition of individual brands, whether local or international.
Over the years, I have witnessed the true evolution of events as a key tool for connecting brands with their target audience. All this, especially the individual details, can only be noticed if you yourself are open to learning. To exploring new horizons and connecting with like-minded individuals.
The pandemic was a good indicator of how adaptable we can be in Slovenia in the field of events. On the other hand, it also showed us how differing opinions can divide people. After returning to the new reality, I noticed that people in event organization are divided into those who will do everything 'the old way' and those for whom the insight into digitalization has opened up new possibilities, new challenges, and new opportunities.
Of course, one thing is key in this. If you want change, you must be ready to first organize things within yourself. In your own attic. And this is a process. You must step out of your comfort zone and overcome the fear that accompanies us whenever we encounter something new. When we succeed in this, we can position ourselves even closer to our goal, armed with new knowledge. People are used to constants. But don't forget. The biggest constant in our lives is change.
In future posts, I will therefore write about the new knowledge I am gaining in the field of event organization. Above all, about successfully utilizing (digital) tools that can make your next events even better.
